My name is Jessica and I reside in Austin, Texas. I moved to Austin from Atlanta a little over a year ago to pursue a career in live music entertainment. I now work as an assistant coordinator for the music festival department at SXSW, Inc. I have been involved in the music industry for approximately five years, gaining experience in radio broadcasting, non-profit music education organizations, venue management, event and concert planning, and festival operations.
From a very young age I knew that I was destined to work in a creative field. Music has always been a source of passion for me, starting with my early days in choir, band, and orchestra playing the trumpet and standup bass. I started attending live concerts at the age of fourteen and it became my favorite pastime. When I was fifteen a dear relative introduced me to his rock record collection. I became obsessed with the likes of Steppenwolf, Led Zepplin and T. Rex. From that point forward I knew that my undying love for music would lead me to a career in the entertainment industry.

Although I currently work for the festival
circuit, my ultimate goal is to own and run a concert venue. I have a special place in my heart for venue operations and booking individual shows.
This blog was initially created for my Entertainment Business Master's program at Full Sail University. However over the last few weeks the assignment has turned into a hobby that I have truly grown to enjoy. Recapping the hundreds of shows that I attend is a great way to share my experiences and to also keep a running list of all the artists I've had the opportunity to see live. I also very much enjoy sharing music news articles and updating viewers on new albums they should check out. Writing about music, for me, is almost as fun as participating in it!
